This is an Intermediate Level tutorial

You will need to download these Selections
unzip and save them in a folder, call it Kitchen Chick



Kitchen Chicken

Remember to save often...



      Open a new image 441 x 500 on a transparent background
      Set your foreground color to #C65A4A set your background color nothing
      Add another layer

      Name your layer CREST, go to selections, load from disk,
      the 1_kam.sel (in your Kitchen Chick Folder) and floodfill with #C65A4A

      Add a new layer call it CROP , go to selections, load from disk,
      the 2_krop.sel and loodfill with #C65A4A

      Add a new layer call it BEAK, go to selections, load from disk,
      the 3_snavel.sel and floodfill with #F3C629

      Add a new layer call it TAIL, go to selections, load from disk,
      the 4_staart.sel and floodfill with #F0E8DD
      contract by 1 and floodfill with #FFFFFF

      Add a new layer call it BODY, go to selections, load from disk,
      the 5_kip.sel and floodfill with #F0E8DD
      contract by 1 and floodfill with #FFFFFF

      Add a new layer call it WING, go to selections, load from disk,
      the 6_vleugel.sel and floodfill with #F0E8DD
      contract by 1 and floodfill with #FFFFFF

      Add a new layer call it HEART, go to selections, load from disk,
      the 7_hart.sel and floodfill with #C65A4A

      Add a new layer call it SIGN, go to selections, load from disk,
      the 8_bord.sel and floodfill with Tile1.gif

      Add a new layer call it STRIPES, go to selections, load from disk,
      the 9_streep.sel and floodfill with #306C96
      Stay on the same layer, go to selections, load from disk,
      the 10_streep.sel and floodfill with #306C96

      Add a new layer call it SQUARES go to selections, load from disk,
      the 12_vierkant.sel and floodfill with #306C96
      Stay on the same layer, go to selections, load from disk,
      the 13_vierkant.sel and floodfill with #306C96

      Add a new layer call it TEXT , go to selections, load from disk,
      the 14_tekst.sel and floodfill with #306C96

      Add a new layer call it TEXT 2 , go to selections, load from disk,
      the 15_tekst.sel and floodfill with #005C00

      This is what we should have by now



      We're going to the next level....I hope you have everything on separate layers...:)
      We are going to give some of the layers a nice cutout
      After the cutout add a noise of 3
      We start out with the following settings Vert and Hort both 0 Opacity 100 Blur 30
      Shadow color checked, color #BB3019

      Go to the CREST layer select all, selection float
      and give it the cutout with the above settings, add the noise of 3


      Repeat but change the blur to 40 for the CROP layer, add the noise again

      Repeat but change the blur to 40 for HEART layer, add the noise of 3

      Repeat but change the blur to 100 and the opacity to 80 and the color to #A0712E
      for BODY layer, add the noise of 3

      Repeat but change the blur to 80 for TAIL layer, add the noise of 3

      Repeat but change the blur to 70 and the opacity to 70 for the WING layer, add the noise of 3

      Repeat but change the blur to 80 and the opacity to 15 and the color to #132531 for the SQUARES layer.

      Repeat but change the blur to 6.3, for STRIPES layer.

      Repeat but change the blur to 7.5 for TEXT2 layer.


      Go to the SIGN layer, go to Effects, Texture Effects, Blinds,
      Width is 2, Opacity is 30, Horizontal checked, color is #808080, apply

      We are going to add some extra shading to the chicken
      Set you Selection tool and Airbrush tool to the settings below



      Go to BODY layer, selections, selection float, add another layer
      Airbrush settings, with the above settings, color set to #A0712E
      Carefully shade at the bottom side from the wing, Put your airbrush
      tool on the wing and move downwards, it might take a few tries.
      Go to blur, and give the shade layer a gaussian blur of 5



      Go back to BODY layer, add another layer
      Go to Selection tool and draw a little ellips with the above settings
      Look at the screenshot 1 for the right position
      Go to the Airbrush tool same settings, foreground color set to #A0712E, background color set to #FFFFFF
      Go from the outside of the selection to the inside with the darker color
      Go to selections, invert selections, now go from within the selection and shade the outside with the light color
      Go back to the BODY layer, selections, selections float, invert.
      Go to the shading layer and hit delete to get rid of jaggies


      Go back to HEART layer, add another layer
      Go to Selection tool and draw a little ellips with the above settings
      Look at the screenshot 2 for the right position
      Go to the Airbrush tool same settings, foreground color set to #BB3019, background color set to #ECBEB6
      Go from the outside of the selection to the inside with the darker color
      Go to selections, invert selections, go from within the selection and shade the outside with the lighter color
      Go back to the HEART layer, selections, selections float, invert.
      Go to the shading layer and hit delete to get rid of jaggies


      Go back to BEAK layer, add another layer
      Go to Selection tool and draw a long and small ellips with the above settings
      Look at the screenshot 3 for the right position
      Go to the Airbrush tool same settings, foreground color set to #F6AB0A, background color set to #F8D96C
      Go from the outside of the selection to the inside with the darker color
      Go to selections, invert selections, go from within the selection and shade the outside with the lighter color
      Go back to the BEAK layer, selections, selections float, invert.
      Go to the shading layer and hit delete to get rid of jaggies


      Now give the kitchen chicken a nice eye and some eyelashes and you are finished..:))
      Merge all layers visible and keep for future use.....
